In 2021, branching out from my travel agency, I identified a new venture that leveraged my expertise in guest management. At Seven Star, our primary goal is to significantly enhance the value we offer to property owners. We aim to provide an exceptional level of service that not only impresses property owners but also substantially increases their net income. Our approach involves expertly managing and marketing their unsold inventory or entire properties on renowned platforms like Airbnb and VRBO.

The strategies we employ at Seven Star are unique, born from my extensive experience in guest management and travel services. These strategies are tailored to effectively market and rent properties, ensuring they stand out in the competitive market. This pivot in my business model has been a game-changer; at the peak, I was managing over 100 listings from around the world. This experience has profoundly shaped my business acumen and continues to inform our operations today.

In 2021, the hospitality industry faced a unique set of challenges, particularly in the short-term rental market. The industry was still grappling with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had shifted consumer behavior and expectations significantly. Travelers were increasingly seeking safe, sanitized, and private accommodations, leading to a surge in demand for short-term rentals. Simultaneously, the market saw a rise in remote work, leading to a new trend where guests not only sought vacation rentals but also conducive work-from-home environments. This shift required property owners to adapt and offer amenities that catered to these new needs. Additionally, the economic impact of the pandemic meant that travelers were more budget-conscious, making pricing strategy a critical factor in property management.

Amidst these evolving dynamics, our challenge at Seven Star Property Management was to enhance the performance of properties in this highly competitive landscape. Our focus was not just on meeting the new market demands but also on standing out in a crowded field.

We formulated the following research question to address these complexities:

How might we enhance property visibility and profitability in the short-term rental market, adapting to post-pandemic traveler preferences, while also ensuring a memorable and safe guest experience that caters to both leisure and remote work needs?

Our strategic initiative commenced with a deep dive into the evolving trends of the short-term rental market, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape. Recognizing the shift in guest preferences and the heightened competition, we focused on pinpointing precise areas for enhancement in property management.
